Some things need explaining because our goal is to provide a first of its kind experience as a brokerage in the HAR geographical area and with that comes certain nuances that our users may not realize.
I would like to explain the pictures that accompany our new listings. Occasionally, you will notice that a listing has no photos. The first thought is an error. We post a stock image of our NuHabitat icon that says “Photo Not Available”. There is actually a reason for this.
It is the goal of NuHabitat to provide the MLS listings to our users as quickly as possible. Every now and then, the HAR API will provide the data to us before making the images available on their media servers. This is no ones fault but creates a gap in the timing for which we can show a complete listing, including the pictures. Since we update against the HAR database every 10 minutes, we will post the data before the media is provided and backfill the images when available. This is why our new listings sometimes appear without the pictures.
Ultimately, I would like real-time MLS data. 10 minute updates are pretty close. In the future, you should know that everything we do will be as timely as possible. When we deliver updates, alerts by email or text and anything else that should be considered timely information, we want you to be the first to know.
Frankly, I still can’t believe the flow of data is obstructed in any scenario. One of my old favorites is 20 minute delayed stock quotes. Now thats a value proposition! You have to know my background to know why that one in particular gets me.
